It is in fact a powerful effusion of gas (99.7% CO2) that dissolves secondarily in the surface water. <\/p><p>Because of its characteristic smell of traces of hydrogen sulphide, it was called Stinky.<\/p><p>The name Mary\u2019s Spring comes from the Marian image that once hung here.<\/p><p>It has an important place in the history of the town as it gave the town its name.<\/p><p>Mary\u2019s Spring is significant for Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b because it was used as the first spring for external balneotherapy before the spa was founded.
